Smarter Drafter Pro Update: Improved Intake and Enterprise-Ready User Management

The next Smarter Drafter Pro update introduces two important improvements aimed at supporting more scalable, connected automation workflows.

First, intake forms can now be linked directly to the Matter Record rather than individual automation forms. Second, Smarter Drafter Pro now supports user management integration with Microsoft Entra. Together, these updates make it easier to capture data once, reuse it across multiple automations, and manage users through existing enterprise identity systems.

Intake Forms Now Linked to the Matter Record

What’s Changing

Intake forms can now be linked directly to the Matter Record, allowing the ability to select a matter when sending an intake. Previously, intake was tied to individual automation forms, which limited how intake data could be reused.

By linking intake to the Matter Record, data can be captured once, stored centrally, and reused across multiple documents and document packs. This builds on capabilities already delivered, including the Matter Record, the Matter Record API, and recent intake security enhancements.

The result is a more flexible and scalable approach to intake, particularly for firms managing complex matters or larger automation libraries.

No Impact on Existing Intake

There is no impact on existing intake setup. All intake forms that are currently linked to individual automation forms will continue to work exactly as they do today.

No changes are required unless you choose to adopt Matter Record–based intake for new forms.

What’s New for Builders

Builders can now create new intake forms that link directly to the Matter Record and use the resulting intake data across multiple automations.

The creation process is largely the same as it is today. The key difference for a form filler is to select the respective matter when sending an intake form.

Microsoft Entra Integration for User Management

What’s New

Smarter Drafter Pro now includes support for Users and Groups provisioning with Microsoft Entra.

This enables firms to sync users from Entra into Smarter Drafter and manage access centrally through their identity provider, aligning Smarter Drafter with existing enterprise identity and security practices.

Access and Setup

The integration is designed to be lightweight and easy to deploy. Firms generate a simple API key within Smarter Drafter for use with Entra, then follow the steps in Entra to complete mapping and syncing of data.

This feature is available to all Smarter Drafter Pro subscriptions, providing enterprise-grade identity support without added complexity.

Built on Open Standards: SCIM

For partners, it’s worth noting that this integration has been built using SCIM (System for Cross-domain Identity Management).

While Microsoft Entra is the first supported provider, the same standards-based framework supports future integrations with other identity providers, such as Okta. This means the Entra integration is not a one-off, but the foundation for broader identity management support over time.

What This Means Overall

This update strengthens Smarter Drafter Pro in two key areas: centralised, reusable intake data through the Matter Record, and enterprise-ready user management through standards-based identity integration.
