Introducing Enhanced Permissions in Smarter Drafter Pro

Permissions in Smarter Drafter Pro have always been role-based, limiting functionality but not restricting access to submissions. This changes with our new Permissions update, delivering a more flexible, secure, and scalable model.

Why This Update Matters

• Centralised control: Manage all permissions in one place, reducing admin effort.
• Permission Sets: Assign permissions to groups, not just individuals, for faster, more consistent updates.
• Granular access: Control permissions at a folder, form, or role level.
• Ethical Walls: Restrict access to sensitive information to maintain confidentiality.

What’s Changing?

1. Centralised Control

Previously, permissions were scattered across different parts of Smarter Drafter. Now, everything is managed in one place, simplifying administration and reducing errors.

2. Permission Sets for Faster Management

For firms with hundreds of users, maintaining consistency can be frustrating and inefficient. Now, you can create Permission Sets—predefined access levels assigned to multiple users. One update applies instantly to all members, saving time and effort.

3. Granular Access Control

Permissions now cover four functional areas and can be applied globally or per folder/form:

• Builder – Controls automation creation and maintenance.
• Filler – Manages form completion capabilities.
• Clause Bank – Regulates submission and approval of clauses.
• Administrator – Governs user management and permissions.

With this fine-tuned control, you can customise access for different teams, practice areas, or document types.

4. Ethical Walls for Confidentiality

• Restrict access at an individual or Permission Set level.
• Ensure users only see forms and submissions they’re authorised to view.
• Maintain privacy and security for confidential legal work.

Seamless Migration – No Action Needed

This update will automatically apply on Thursday, 27th March. Your existing permissions will be migrated based on current roles and groups, ensuring a smooth transition with no downtime.
